WPS Collective Bargaining

Dear Wellesley Public Schools Community,

Last fall, on behalf of our students, families, and community, the Wellesley School Committee began negotiations with all five  units of the Wellesley Educators Association (WEA) for successor agreements to their most recent contracts. 

Educators and support staff are the lifeblood of our schools. They work every day to support our students’ academic, social and emotional growth. All of us on the Wellesley School Committee deeply value their commitment and dedication to our students and our families. Throughout our engagement in negotiations with the WEA, we have been committed to a collaborative process in which we have advocated for contracts that reflect the guiding principles of the Wellesley Public Schools:

·      Focusing on every child

·      Investing in our educators

·      Providing broad-based learning

·      Aligning resources with needs

In an effort to keep our families and community members informed of our progress, we are opening this collective bargaining public website to share information related to the status of negotiations.  We will update the site regularly to ensure the latest information is available to the community. 

Our most recent bargaining session was on September 16, where we shared with the WEA an updated global settlement proposal. In preparing this proposal, we have worked hard to be responsive to many of the issues raised by the WEA during negotiations, while also keeping to our commitment to providing a world-class education to students while continuing to demonstrate fiscal responsibility to the Town.

Our next session is scheduled for October 1. We look forward to these further conversations and hope we are able to quickly come to an agreement on successor contracts for all bargaining units.
