307WS Math Workshop

 Gr 9-10 |0.5 Credits | Semester-Long | 1x per Cycle

Prerequisite: No prerequisites - by teacher recommendation only

The purpose of Math Workshop is to support students’ academic success in Algebra I and Geometry through a deep understanding of core instruction by strengthening skills and previewing upcoming concepts. The course will focus on reinforcing learning in Algebra I and Geometry and utilize the instructional materials and assignments from students' current Foundations, Algebra 1 or Geometry classes.

This course is designed to support students in mastering the Algebra 1 and Geometry or Algebra 1, Foundations 9 and Foundations 10 standards in order to meet the State’s CD (Competency Determination) requirement. Students will work individually or in small groups with a math teacher and student assistants. Credit in this course will be awarded on a pass or no credit basis.

• Create and interpret algebraic representations using correct notation

• Simplify, solve and evaluate numerical and algebraic expressions and equations

• Draw valid conclusions and justify reasoning and solutions
