Gr 12 | 6 Credits | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle
This course will focus on money management and investments to help students build solid financial habits and arm them with the knowledge and tools necessary to become more financially independent. The topics covered in the course include: budgeting, financial planning, consumer purchasing, banking, credit cards and debt and investments. Developing solid money management skills and habits are critical for students to develop now, as opposed to later, and puts students at a huge advantage as they deal with the realities of the financial decisions they will face throughout their lives. By participating and competing, throughout the year, in a realistic stock market challenge, students will gain a deeper understanding of how the economy and the financial markets work, the different investment options they have, and the relationship between risk and return. Financial professionals and field trips to financial institutions will provide the students with valuable learning experiences.
