OBJECTIVES: In this course, students will:
1. Experience singing as a source of self-expression.
2. Demonstrate and describe techniques used in choral/vocal music.
3. Improve skills in aural/oral activity.
4. Learn to appreciate and evaluate music through aesthetic perception.
5. Learn musical elements through active participation in music activities.
6. Exercise skills in creativity and improvisation.
7. Demonstrate skills and attitudes beneficial to individual and ensemble development.
8. Experience personal growth through participation in music.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students are required to be present at all rehearsals and performances scheduled in and out of regular school hours.
If a student is unable to meet this requirement at any time, the following procedures should be carried out by the student.
1. The STUDENT should make all attempts to resolve the conflict BEFORE speaking with the teacher. Provide coaches with conflicting dates at the beginning of the sports season.
2. If the conflict can’t be resolved, the instructor should be notified via email at least one week in advance.
3. If the conflict is one dealing with severe medical or family emergency, the student may be allowed to complete additional assignments to make up missed grades.
4. If a student is absent from a performance or dress rehearsal without informing the instructor as stated above, complete loss of credit will occur.
5. If a student is absent on a day that a written assignment is due, the assignment should be passed in the next class meeting.
