Bates students visit the library once a week during their class library time for lessons in information literacy, research skills, internet safety, and, of course, to find great books to read! Students are also welcome to stop by the library at other times during the school day to check out books or to get help from our friendly librarian.
Students check out library books each week during their library class and they are kindly encouraged to return their books at the following library class, though students can renew their library books if they need more time to finish them.
In the event that a library book is lost or damaged by a student, families will be asked to replace the book with a hardcover replacement. Our library books are very well loved and hardcover books are the best format to keep the book in its best shape. Please feel free to speak with the librarian about replacing a book or other replacement options.
Bates students in grades K–5 use the school's iPads during their library classes for research projects and to search the online library catalog. All students must abide by the Acceptable Use Policy and the WPS Technology Guidelines.
Library district curriculum, mission, resources, and selection policies can be found on the Wellesley Public Schools website.
