Ms. Bethaney Duncan

It's great to start another year as a fifth-grade teacher here at Upham Elementary! I would like to introduce myself to help you get to know me before school even begins.

I grew up in Green County, Oklahoma with my parents, sister, brother, grandparents, and Coco, my pet Boxer. For fun, I played basketball through high school, sang in my town's chorus, and rode my bike everywhere. Also, I loved boating on the lakes and riding jet skis.

Then, I studied at the University of Tulsa graduating with a degree in English Literature before moving to Boston with my husband for graduate school. In 2011, I chose to attend Simmons University to receive my Masters of Art in Teaching.

Now, I am a mom to two wonderful girls, Cait and Eleanor, and one tuxedo cat, Jack. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking, swimming, hot tea, watching movies, traveling, and reading about the ancient world.

This summer, Eleanor convinced me to read some of the Dork Diaries series with her since they are currently her favorite books. I had fun sharing a book with her!

What did you do this summer? I look forward to hearing all about it when we return to school.
