The iPad can be a very versatile tool for students and can provide many accessibility settings to increase their independence. Listed below are a variety of settings that can support our students when working with curriculum materials. Here are some valuable accessibility settings. Video tutorials coming soon:
Audio support: The iPad can read text on the screen when the correct settings are enabled.
Guided Access: Students can be locked into a specific application
Keyboard: Word prediction can support written work, audio support is available for word prediction
Read&Write is a google chrome extension that provides students with support in the areas of reading, writing, and note-taking. Students can access Read&Write supports for Google Docs, PDFs, and ePubs. Students must use their school accounts on the Chrome Browser in order to have the toolbar available. Here are instructions for enabling the chrome extension on your computer or Chromebook.
The Notes application (available on your iPhone or iPad) allows students to scan papers and upload them directly into their Google Drive folder. From there, documents can be shared with their teacher(s). Video tutorial coming soon.
