Timeline
In 1987, WFC conducted the Child Day Care Affordability Study for the state of Massachusetts.
In 1987, WFC was the lead researcher for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Gender Bias Committee, which published their findings of gender bias in the Massachusetts court system.
In 1989, we began a 15-year collaborative study of early care and education (ECE) in children’s lives, the NICHD Study of Early Care and Education and Youth Development (SECCYD).
In 1998, WFC co-organized a conference on "Work and Family at the Millennium: Today's Realities, Tomorrow's Visions." The proceedings were published as Working Families: The Transformation of the American Home.
In 2000, WFC began a 5-year study of the cost and quality of ECE programs, including centers, family child care and public school prekindergarten classrooms, funded by ACF and the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
In 2005, WFC published Preparing the Early Care and Education Workforce: The Capacity of Massachusetts’ Institutions of Higher Education.
In 2010, WFC published the third biannual evaluation of the Boston Public Schools Early Childhood Program.
In 2015, WFC was an invited speaker on employment and women's health at NIH conference, Raising the Bar: Improving the Health of Women in the United States.
In 2016, WFC released reports and a toolkit from the Ready Educators Quality Improvement Pilot, an ECE technical assistance initiative.
In 2018, WFC organized the Early Childhood Strategic Leadership Institute, with Early Childhood Associates.
In 2020, WFC provided research-based commentary on child care during the pandemic.
