The Silver Thread is a human-made stream that begins on Cedar Knoll and ends at Paramecium Pond. For almost 100 years, the campus potable water system fed the brook, Bridge Pond, Mirror Pond, and Paramecium Pond. To improve the sustainability of the Silver Thread, a non-potable water source was introduced in 2024 and the flow rate was decreased. The stream flow is now managed as part of the greater hydrological system of campus.
