SIDI Workshop on Python (pandas, NumPy)
What: Come join SIDI's (Student Interdisciplinary Data Initiative) first workshop of the semester! We will be teaching the basics of the pandas and NumPy Python packages and give an opportunity for students to try exercises of their own! It will be taught by our very own Sally Kim '25 (CS & Math) and Tayae Rogers '25 (Data Science).

Diversifying Language Data: Examining the Multiliterate and Multilingual Brain
What: At the intersection of language and cognition sits the relationship between spoken and written language. Join CLSC/PSYC Professor Yoolim Kim for a discussion including the way we visually process individual graphic symbols to how we mentally represent the information encoded by such symbols. Of particular interest is heritage learners of language, and the ways in which differential abilities affect language processing.

Eclipses: Timekeepers of Civilization
What: The upcoming April 8 total solar eclipse is an excellent reminder of how
our Universe and its celestial bodies unwaveringly keep time for
humanity and help us better understand our own human history over the
millennia. From eclipses, comets, and supernovae to James Webb Space
Telescope observations, the Universe continues as a faithful timekeeper
for events both celestial and terrestrial. This presentation and discussion explore time as data. Taught by Jonathan Kemp, Observatory Manager and Instrument Specialist.
