So, you have some data and a research project. What next? Here are a few places to start!

Talk with a faculty member or student to see what tools and resources are customarily used in your research lab or class.

Sign up for and attend a hands-on instructional workshop.
⭐
Find and review an individual self-paced on-line training tutorial.
⭐
Open up a terminal and explore the shell. (Mac and Linux users can use the provided Terminal application; Windows users can download the Git BASH application which is included in Git for Windows.)

Download open source software like Anaconda Python, QGIS, or R and RStudio.
⭐
Access a local lab computer to use licensed software like Mathematica, MATLAB, SPSS, or Stata.

Grab a cheat sheet or reference guide if it's been a while.

Explore and grab a publicly-available data set.
⭐
Connect with a local expert about a specific resource.

Join the mailing list.
