Mission of the project
Our project provides a safe and effective technique to save and grow the manatee population. Florida manatees are substantial aquatic animals that are native to Florida. Typical adult manatees are about nine to ten feet long, and weigh about half a ton. An adult manatee usually consumes up to ten percent of its body weight each day. A 1,000 pound manatee can consume about 100 pounds of food each day. However, due to the troubling times and depleting seagrass, manatee levels are decreasing more rapid than ever. Our project allow for an easy, effective, and cost efficient way to sway the manatees farther from the brink of extinction. Our project invents a way to plant seagrass in the exact water and ground depth.

The first design of the Sea Saber was designed to efficiently plant the seagrass by using a commercialized part. Although, there was no way to connect the parts together.

The first print of the Sea Saber was printed well although the size of the product was not ideal. Also, the thickness of the part walls were not wide enough.

The second iteration allowed for the string to be securely attached. Creating an efficient mechanism. Unfortunately , the string was not the most durable so we designed a new product.

The 3rd iteration of the Sea Saber was made to easily plant the sea grass with a custom sand raking mechanism to perfectly plant the sea grass at an optimal depth. In this prototype the seed compartment would not close fully due to a lack of extensions.

The third print of the Sea Saber was done well. We took into account the edits and changes needed to create an efficient tool. With this prototype the seed compartment was made so it would close but there were holes.

The fourth iteration of the Sea Saber is designed to be used with the most efficiency.

This was our final print. The Sea Saber was printed at 100% size. This project is very efficient.
This is our Final Design of the Sea Saber. Our project is a main way to preserve the manatee species in a safe, efficient, and cost effective way.
