Midterms
Progress reports for Trimester 3 will be sent home on Tuesday, April 30th. If you have questions about your child's progress, please contact the teacher directly.  Kindergarten Midterms will be sent home on Friday, May 3rd. 

Online Safety Parent Education
Currier will be hosting an internet safety informational session for parents on Thursday, May 2nd from 6:00-7:30. Childcare and light refreshments will be provided. 

Water Guns &  Look-Alikes
As the weather gets warmer, some students may be inclined to bring water guns or other play weapons to school. We are asking that you please remind your child to leave these items at home. Water guns are considered look-alike weapons and will be consequenced as such. This can be reviewed in the Parent-Student Handbook on page 50 under Policy 7:190. 

Teacher Appreciation Week

Dental Screenings
Currier will offer dental screenings on Wednesday, April  17th, and Thursday, April 18th. More information can be found here. District Wellness Night

Solar Eclipse
The solar eclipse is anticipated to happen on Monday approximately between 1:00-3:00 PM.  Students are NOT encouraged to watch this event unless they are supervised and have the appropriate eye protection.  Eclipse glasses will be available during P/T conferences for any parent who wants them.

IAR Practice (Grades 3-5)
In honor of IAR testings starting, we are planning a spirit wear week at Currier. See this flier that includes what to wear on each day.  This is your last chance to use the  IAR Practice Calendar to prepare your child for the test.  Students in grades 3-5 start testing on Wednesday, April 3rd. 

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Spring Conferences will take place on Monday, April 8th from 1:00-8:00 PM. There will be no student attendance on this day.  Your child's classroom teacher will be reaching out if they want to schedule a conference with you. Please contact them directly if you have questions or concerns.

Car Drop Off/Pick Up
Student safety is our number one priority at Currier. It is preferred that you do not park and walk your children through car line traffic. We do our best to have the car line move efficiently.  Thank you for your consideration of this matter. 

Mobile Health Clinic
On Thursday,  April 4th from 8:30-4:00, the district will be hosting a mobile clinic for kids. Appointments are required.  Find out more information HERE!

PBIS Celebration
On Tuesday 2/27, we had our 2nd PBIS celebration after students earned 25,000 Currier Cash! The students had a celebratory assembly and got to swap classrooms for 20 minutes to play a game or do an activity with a different teacher. Students and staff had a great time!

Soccer at Recess
Soccer has been temporarily suspended during recess. Students have been playing rough and many injuries and disagreements have happened. Please remind your child about fair play and do not send them to school with a soccer ball.

Kinder Registration
Registration for incoming Kinder students is Thursday, February 29th from 9:00-6:00.  Call the office if you need to know what documents to bring. We look forward to meeting our future coyotes!

Attendance
Having your child here each day is the best way they can stay on track with their learning and progress. Our building goal is to have 95% weekly attendance. We have started a new incentive that encourages all students to attend school. Ask your child to explain how it works! 

Valentine's Day

Today we reviewed our Currier Values (Respect for others, responsibility, orderly transitions, positive interactions, and readiness to learn) with students. This is especially important after long periods of no school. Students can earn Currier Cash for showing these values each day. WINTER WONDERLAND EXTRAVAGANZA
We had a great turnout of over 250 people for our winter fest! If you attended, please fill out this brief check-in SURVEY. Our goal is to get 80 percent of our families to attend at least one event. A huge thank you to our PTO who planned, organized, and ran the event. 

4th and 5th Grade Winter Concerts
Winter concerts will take place on Friday, December 22nd. 4th grade will be at 9:00 AM and  5th grade will be at 10:30 AM. Parents are welcome to attend this event. We are asking that you come to school to scan your ID before December 22nd. You will be issued a ticket for the concert and should bring that on the day of the event. APTT
We are very excited about our first Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meeting on Tuesday, October 24th. If your child's teacher is doing this program, they will reach out to you with more specifics. We will offer two sessions to accommodate families with students in multiple grades. See flyer for more details.

Pokemon Cards
We have seen an increase in students bringing  Pokemon cards to school. These are causing a disruption to learning and have led to some peer disagreements. Please do not send your child to school with these cards. 

Midterm Grades and Parent Reports
The district will be offering two parent nights for anyone interested in learning more about progress reports that were sent home last week.  If you have children in grades K-2, information about this evening is linked here. If you have children in grades 3-5, information about this evening is linked here. Both events will be held at Leman Middle School. 

Wear it Wednesday!
Wednesday, October 25th- Halloween Theme Day (Wear orange, purple, and black)
Wednesday, November 1st- Pajama Day
Wednesday, November 8th- Sweater Day

HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is Tuesday, October 31st! Students ARE allowed to dress up for this day. Students may NOT wear masks, bring any items that resemble weapons, wear any fake blood, or wear anything with inappropriate language/symbols.  If you are unsure if your child's costume is appropriate, please call the school and ask. Weather permitting we are planning to have a parade around the school so students can show off their costumes. Parents will be able to attend this event! The parade will be from 2:00-2:15. The parade route and parent viewing areas are listed on the map to the left.  

Parking will be limited so we encourage you to carpool or walk if possible!

PTO
Our first PTO meeting went great! We are seeking out more parents to become members, officers, and room parents. Please fill out this Google Form if you are interested. We look forward to your partnership!

Currier PTO
We are excited to announce that the Currier PTO will be returning this year. We will have a planning meeting on Tuesday, October 10th from 4:00-5:00 PM. Please join us if you are interested in serving as a member or officer.

Midterm Reports
Midterm reports will be sent home on Monday, October 16th. You will either get these electronically via Parent Square or a paper copy will be sent home. Currently, midterm reports are not available on the mobile app. We apologize for the miscommunication. If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact their homeroom teacher.

Curriculum Night Success!
Thank you to everyone who came out to curriculum night last week. If you were not able to attend, please reach out to your child's teacher for information regarding what will be taught this year. If you attended the event but did not fill out the parent survey, you can access it here! It is our goal to have 80 percent of our families attend at least one event this year. 

Picture Day
Picture day is tomorrow, October 3rd. If you need an additional order form, please reach out to the main office. 

Currier PTO

Outside Food/Drink
Please do not send your children with outside fast food/drinks. You are able to pack your child a lunch from home. Students are also provided free breakfast and lunch everyday.

Curriculum Nights
Our curriculum nights are fast approaching! We will start in the main gym with a parent presentation from 5:00-5:30.  The teachers will offer two informational sessions to accommodate families who have children in multiple grade levels.

We understand the importance of the home-to-school connection. This year our goal is to increase the number of families who participate in events at school. Currier Cash Drawing
On Friday, we had our 2nd Currier Cash drawing! Students have been working hard to earn Currier Cash for following one of our 5 core values (Respect, Responsibility, Orderly Transitions, Positive Interactions, and Readiness to Learn. You can see an example of our values by location if you click HERE.  Ask your child to share with you how many Currier Cash they have earned so far!

Arrival/Dismissal Update
Your child's safety and well-being continue to be a priority to us.  We appreciate all the feedback from our most recent parent pick-up/drop-off procedures survey. Until we can develop a comprehensive plan, we will keep the system the same.  Please remember to call the office if you are changing your child's mode of transportation, especially if they ride the bus.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Your child's safety and well-being are very important to us.  We are working on making arrival and dismissal safe and efficient. We would love to hear your suggestions on this topic. Take a moment to fill out the survey linked HERE.  During car drop off we are discouraging parents from getting out of their car and walking through moving vehicles. We will communicate an updated plan after hearing your feedback!

If your child rides a bus, they will be placed on the appropriate bus after school. If you are picking up your child or need to change their mode of transportation, please let the office know and they will communicate with the classroom teacher.

Coyotes Return This Week! 

Teachers have been busy setting up their classrooms in preparation for the first day of school! We are excited to see our young scholars for the first day. See below for important dates and times.  

Wednesday, August 30th- Meet the teacher/supply drop off (1:00-3:00). Class lists will be posted on the front door and staff will be available to help! 

Thursday, August 31st- First day of school for grades 1-5 (School hours are from 8:40-3:25). Students may enter the building as early as 8:10 for breakfast. 

Thursday, August 31st- Kinder Orientation (9:45-11:00 or 1:45-3:00)
Please make sure to bring your photo ID! Information was sent home electronically and through the mail.  You only need to attend one of the two sessions. 

Friday, September 1st- First Day of School for Kindergarten
No parents will be allowed in the classroom on the first day of Kindergarten!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! 

It is an honor and priviledge to be the Principal of Currier Elementary School. I look forward to partnering with you to support your child's growth and development. I believe strongly in an open door policy. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my assistant principal at any time with questions, feedback, or concerns. We would be happy to chat over the phone or schedule an in-person meeting to hear your thoughts. Each Monday evening I will send a weekly parent update. In this communication you will find upcoming events and important information. Once a month, I will send a more detailed newsletter which will include updates from each grade level. I am beyond excited to begin this journey and I look forward to seeing all the little smiling faces on the first day of school!

The circle drive at the front of our school by door 1 is for BUSES ONLY (yellow). The circle drive closer to the prarie path by door 6 is for CAR DROP OFF ONLY (blue). All walkers may enter through door 1.  All students may enter the building as early as 8:10 for breakfast. Reference the map to the left for a visual. Staff will be onsite to help you!
