February has arrived! While we are still in the thick of the 2021-2022 school year, this is also the time when we start to turn our thoughts toward the new school year as well. Transition planning will continue for our eighth graders moving on to the high school, and our sixth grade team will start preparations to welcome a new group of Leman Chargers as well. As we plan for the coming year, we will be seeking your feedback on two surveys to help us support our culture at Leman. The 5Essentials survey and the Studer survey are both opportunities for you to let us know how we are doing. Your responses are crucial to us - we want to know how we are doing and where we can improve. If you would take the time to complete both surveys, we would really appreciate it. Your input means so much to us!
Sincerely,
Maggie Lay
Principal
This year, our theme focuses on "igniting" the fire and desire to learn inside each and every student. So many examples of this exist in the classrooms and hallways of LMS . Each month we will highlight one example to share with the larger community! Check out the great work of our math department below.
Math teachers in grades 6-8 are working to fully implement a workshop model by the end of the 2021-2022 school year. This model would emphasize differentiation through more of a guided math approach. The teachers have worked really hard to make math relevant, engaging, and fun! View the illustration below to see how the math block is structured.

Joel is an awesome LMS 6th Grader that is making a difference with his peers in being an upstander and working really hard to be an example to others with positive interactions. He also does a nice job of transitioning to his classes and makes a point to have smile on face under his mask.

Cason makes leadership look easy both inside and outside of the classroom. He models what it means to be a good example in academics, athletics and in 8th Grade. Irene takes her responsibilities as a student and member of the Leman community very seriously. She is always looking for ways to improve the experience here for students and make their lives better. Irene is a role model for all students. We are so lucky to have her at Leman. You are valued and we appreciate you, Irene!

The LMS Announcements run every week. Stay up-to-date with currrent events and the latest important reminders happening at the school.
LMS is very fortunate to have the support of six instructional coaches who work closely with teachers and administrators to amplify learning in the classroom. Whether it is co-teaching with a faculty member who wants to try a new method, planning professional development for our staff, leading curriculum work, or providing individual support for students, these six women are behind-the-scenes super heros at LMS! One of their many contributions to LMS is the Coaching Corner feature of each edition of The Charger Wire. We are grateful for their leadership in our building!
