Summer Reading can do a few things for you--it can help retain what you have already learned and it can help improve both your reading and writing skills. According to the School Library Journal, students who participate in summer reading programs “significantly improve their reading skills” and are as much as “52 Lexile points ahead of their peers who do not [participate in summer reading]” (Karen Jensen, TLT et al. "Summer Reading Programs Boost Student Achievement, Study Says." School Library Journal. n.p., 2017.). These facts are hard to ignore.
