9th-12 Grade Physical Education
Unit 1 Introduction to Weight Room (10 days)
Essential Targets
Students can display proper safety techniques on all weight room equipment.
Students can use the upper/lower body equipment displaying proper form and safety. (Bulgarian split squat, dumbbells, incline bench press, squats, cleans, and triple extensions)
Unit 2 Fitness (10 Days)
Essential Targets
Students will participate in an initial assessment and am able to identify what the healthy fitness zones are. (Pacer, Mile Run, Shuttle Run, 20yd Dash, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Pull-ups, and Sit and Reach)
Students will collect data from initial fitness assessment to set goals for improvement of their personal fitness levels.
Students will complete a final fitness assessment and will show improvement from the initial fitness data. (Pacer, Mile Run, Shuttle Run, 20yd Dash, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Pull-ups, and Sit and Reach)
Unit 3 Cardiovascular Fitness (20 days)
Essential Targets
Students will participate safely in all cardiovascular based games to increase their heart rate. (Handball, Matball, AP ball, ultimate frisbee, football, soccer, lacrosse, pickle ball, badminton)
Students will use their fitbits during cardiovascular activities to determine fitness levels during workouts.
Students will participate in aerobic activities to determine resting heart, target heart rate, and maximum heart rate.
Unit 4 Muscular Strength and Flexibility (30 days)
Essential Targets
Students will be able to perform a variety of dynamic and static stretches before performing physical activity.(Active Stretches, T-25 workouts, T25-Yoga, weight room, and total body fitness workouts designed by the students.
Students will be able to create an exercise routine for themselves that display a variety of muscular strength and flexibility activities.
Unit 5 Lifetime Activities (20 days)
Essential Targets
Students will safely participate in lifetime physical activities to achieve moderate to vigorous physical activity to develop an active and healthy lifestyle.
