Advanced Literature and Composition

In Advanced Literature and Composition, students will read and critically analyze literature, specifically the modern novel, the short story, and poetry.  Students are required to read novels along with several stories with both a thoughtful and critical eye and respond to them through daily discussion, group projects, research papers, and oral presentations.

As this is also a writing-intensive course, students will write daily in addition to writing research-based papers, compare/contrast papers, and narrative papers.

Although this course is not a fully-fledged AP Literature and Composition course, the curriculum is formatted with the intention to prepare students to take the AP Literature and Composition exam near the end of the school year.
