About Us

What is Over-Booked?

Our mission is to provide a safe place to explore and discuss new literature. We aim to create a community of supportive readers. Whether an voracious reader, or someone who is interested in beginning their reading journey, all are welcome here.

How does the club work?

We are all reading a book together, provided by NUAMES North. Click here to see what this quarter's book is. Members have an entire quarter to get through the novel, so this is a no-pressure approach to literature discussions. We will not have any formal discussions on our group novel until the end of the quarter. We understand that everyone reads at their own pace and we don't want anyone to feel pressured to keep pace with anyone else in the club.

We are also collectively playing literary bingo. Each member gets a bingo card that they will engage with at their own pace. Each square represents a book that follows a specific literary rule, encouraging members to expand their literary experience. Those who get a "bingo" will receive a small prize. Those who get a "blackout" will receive a larger prize. It is not required to get a bingo or a blackout to participate—it is simply a fun goal.

  • The bingo cards will be refreshed each quarter, meaning you cannot carry over your squares each quarter.

Each of our meetings will have a specific theme (i.e. Favorite poem, Christmas book exchange, Worst book ever, Childhood Impact, etc.). Members are encouraged to bring in literature that coincides with that meeting's theme for sharing. We will also be discussing the literature that we are currently reading, individually, for our bingo cards.

Club Fee

Each member is required to pay a $5.00 club fee per book to help offset the cost of the books and the prizes. Please bring your fee to Sherene Keith in the office. She will take your payment and give you a receipt to bring to me. When you bring your receipt to me, you will get your bingo card and your copy of our current reading book (assuming we are not yet at our 15-student capacity).
