Luanne M.

Greetings to all. My name is Luanne A. Mayo and I have lived in Thailand for about 20 years now. I’m American but have lived abroad in Australia and Thailand for quite a while. This is my 5th year at Dara Academy. Currently, I am teaching P5 NP classes, along with P5 Global English classes. 

Truly, I do enjoy teaching, especially, in the Upper Prathom levels. My teaching philosophy is varied as are my students' various abilities. Many hands-on activities and projects are incorporated into our daily lessons. Music also plays a big part in our lessons as it is a fun way to reinforce vocabulary and grammar concepts. And of course, as my students are at the age where they are really beginning to embrace technology, we use a lot of online English apps such as Blooket, Kahoot, and Busuu. 

Simply put, I try to instill curiosity and a love for learning in my students. The world is theirs for the taking, there is not a limit on potential. 

My alma mater is David Lipscomb College in TN, U.S.A. I have a B.S. in biology and also studied education and completed my student teaching at the high school level. However, most of my teaching has been private tutoring and small classes that were held in my home. 

My hobbies include reading, quilting, and listening to music. 

I look forward to another great year at Dara.
