My name is Sonyja Murphy.
I am originally from Ireland, but I have lived in Thailand for many years. I hold a B.A degree and a PGCE in Education. In addition, I have a Postgraduate Diploma in TEFL. I will be teaching Kindergarten 2 and Kindergarten 3 at Dara Academy.
I am a seasoned educator having taught at many schools, both Thai and International, here in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. My approach to teaching is very much play based. I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying themselves and are involved in the process.
A creative, hands-on, and engaging approach is my chosen style of teaching. By incorporating tactile, visual, and interactive learning methods, lessons are more memorable and enjoyable. I enjoy using craft projects, art, and DIY activities to help students understand abstract concepts, develop fine motor skills, and express their creativity. I value experiential learning, fostering a positive environment where students can explore ideas through making and doing.
Some interesting facts about me could include how I bungee jumped and skydived in New Zealand, ate Hungarian Strudel dessert in Gyor, Hungary and explored Luang Prabang in Laos.
I welcome the opportunity to teach at Dara Academy and I look forward to being a part of Dara Academy this coming year.
