NP English Camp in Korea (March 22-30, 2024)
On 22 - 30 March 2024, 16 Mathayoms 1 - 5 students from the Native Speaker Program journeyed to South Korea for the Language and Cultural Exchange Program to dive into English at the English Village, Paju (Gyeonggi English Villages), an institute that teaches English to foreigners. The students were able to practice mastering and honing their English skills while getting to learn and explore a different culture in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, (Gyeonggi-do), South Korea. The learning area and buildings are all boasting with European style architecture. This along with learning English from a native speaker, gave the feeling of really being in a Western country. Our students learned alongside students from Korea and Japan. Not only was English taught to the students, but also games, cooking, science, art, sport, education, and more! The students were able to understand the importance of language first hand, by using their communication skills to build new friendships with students from other countries.
In addition, students had the opportunity to visit Korean tourist spots in Seoul such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, HiKR Ground, a tourist and cultural information center in Seoul, Cheonggyecheon Canal, the border between North and South Korea. The students also got to go to a huge amusement park, “Lotte World”, and go shopping in Myeongdong area, and other various Premium Outlets in Korea.
