NCEA Accreditation for performance can be earned through the POP MUSIC program in coordination with "Te Kura" and "Kotui Ako" Correspondence Schools.
POP MUSIC for Seniors - focuses on L1 - L3 NCEA Solo and Group Performance.
Year 9 & 10 Music - ITM Group lessons are provided for year 9 & 10 students who intend to join the POP music program when they become seniors.
Year 7 & 8 Music - There is currently no music program provided for Year 7 & 8 students, however, students are encouraged to sign up for Itinerant music lessons to be waitlisted, and while priority is given to year 9 - 13 POP MUISC students, time slots may become available.
How much will it cost?
For POP music students - Itinerant Lessons are free and are conducted during school hours.
Currently ITM Lessons are available in the following instruments:
Vocals, Drums, Guitar, Bass, Beginner Piano, sax, flute, clarinet, trombone
The Putaruru School of Music is a community organisation that provides private and group tuition on Monday's after school. This is seperate from the school and to be arranged between parent and the PSM. Contact (to be updated)

NCEA LEVEL 1
Prerequisites:
2 years of lessons or equivalent experience in instrumental study (including voice). Experience includes self taught, music hobbyist, jam shesh, family, church, or kapahaka etc - anything music immersive.
Itinerant Music Lessons
To meet Level 1 performance skill requirements:
Students must take Lessons in their chosen instrument either with an ITM (Itinerant Teacher of Music) or a private tutor.
Performance Courses available
STANDARD 91949
Demonstrate music performance skills (5 credits)
Students must perform one piece of music either as part of a group or a solo artist.
NCEA LEVEL 2
Prerequisites:
3 years lessons or equivalent experience in instrumental study (including voice).
Itinerant Music Lessons
To meet Level 2 performance skill requirements:
Students must take Lessons in their chosen instrument either with an ITM or a private tutor.
Performance Courses available
STANDARD 91270
Perform two substantial pieces of music as a featured soloist (6 credits)
STANDARD 91272
Demonstrate ensemble skills by performing a substantial piece of music as a member of a group (4 credits)
NCEA LEVEL 3
Prerequisits:
4 years lessons or equivalent experience in instrumental study (including voice).
Itinerant Music Lessons
To meet Level 3 performance skill requirements:
Students must take Lessons in their chosen instrument either with an ITM or a private tutor.
Performance Courses available

Perform two programmes of music as a featured soloist (8 credits)
(One "Programme of music" consists of 2 music pieces).
STANDARD 91418
Demonstrate ensemble skills by performing two substantial pieces of music as a member of a group (4 credits)
