Shoot 5: 28/6/22 100 Images
Ideas
To photograph both books and toy/characters in the same frame. Start connecting ideas together to make a smoother storyline on my folio board. I also needed to experiment further with artist models I had already used and further exspand those ideas.

Book:
I ripped up holes in each page of the book, getting smaller and smaller. Then painted the different layers with watercolour
Trees:
Using the scrapes from the holes I ripped in the books, I covered my hands in glue and then rolled, bend and sculpted the paper into organic shapes. Then I used more glue to attach each organic shape to each other one at a time.

What worked?
The work that I did in the studio with the sculpted trees worked really well and produced some really cool photos. I really like how the lighting turned out. I just wish I had bought my figurines and photographed them as well in the studio.
What didn't work, how could this be improved?
I wish that I did more photography with the figures and the book. Especially with the sculptural trees. Also quite a few photos that could have been nice photos were blurry.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
In my next shoot I would like draw in my sets/sculptures, as well as figurines and books. I also want to try make my shoots look more mystical.
Shoot 6: 8/7/22 114 Images
Ideas
To make a more obvious connection between books, the figures and sets. I also wanted to create images that might convey that the book is fairytale is coming to life and therefore more mystical. I also want to expand on my composition and camera angles more to create more interesting images.

Books:
First I cut out different shapes and sizes of white foam. To cover the foam to make book covers I used textured card and watercolour painted paper. To add the details to the spines of the books I used pens, markers and different coloured card.
Bookshelf:
First I used an old jewelry box to trace the shape onto the pages. Then using a craft knife I cut out multiple layers in the pages so I could wedge the box in. Once I glued in the jewelry box I cut two thick popsicle sticks to size to be the shelves within the box.

What worked?
The long exposure photography that I did with different lightening worked really well and created some interesting images that I believe look more mystical. I also really enjoyed playing around with the composition more and different camera angles. Out of all my shoots so far, I was the most experimental with this shoot.
What didn't work, how could this be improved?
Even though the long exposure photographer with the lights looked really cool, it took many attempts to get just one good image. This was a photoshoot that I also needed assistance in. The issues we faced were props falling over mid shot, hands getting in the way, fuzzy foreground and unintentional (unwanted) shaky movements with the lights.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
For my next shoot I would like to introduce some new aspects into my theme. I'm currently not sure what those aspects might be so I'm going to love back on my original ideas/brainstorm

Ideas
I realized that I had both shoot at night and outside but I hadn't done so together (outside at night). Our blossom tree in our backyard had just fully blossomed, so I wanted to use that to my advantage and use the tree in my backdrop. I also wanted to introduce mirrors into my photography.

Set Construction
First I put two small mirrors in a thick plastic bag and broke them with the help from my dad. I selected a few of my favorite pieces and glued them to a page in the book using tweezers, pliers and super glue. Then I created holes in the pages above with small scissors and ripping up the pages. Finally I painted the top page with watercolour to add some detail. I also used the scarps from when I ripped the wholes in the books in my photographs.

What worked?
I really like the way the blossom tree added to the magical-ness of my photos. I liked to combination of the grass and fallen petals with the book and my figurines. I love how the colours and textures came out in all the photos.
What didn't work, how could this be improved?
When I first started shooting outside the lighting was incorrect and made my photos look, too dark, blurring and had a a greeny-yellowish hue. I eventually figured out the lighting using the torch on my phone. For the pictures with the fairy lights connected to the tree I had to get my mum to hold a large outside torch to get the lighting right as well,
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
I'm starting to repeat ideas now, meaning I need to find some new inspiration to extend my work further.
Shoot 8: 5/9/22 85 Images
Ideas
Since I'm starting to repeat ideas, I need to introduce an entirely new idea/artist modest. I also need a new shoot for the beginning of my board to make it stronger. My teacher recommended the artist model Joseph Cornell. So for my next shoot I'm going to introduce boxes with my figurines. I also needed to photograph my set showing that they are boxes.

What worked?
I am extremely happy with how all the photos turned out. This is probably one of my favorite shoots. I love how the lighting came out, I enjoyed using the boxes and playing around with framing, the scrapbooking paper worked well as a backdrop and shooting through my fake plants created some interesting photos. The main difference between this shoot and my other shoots is that I used the viewfinder instead of the screen (which I used for all my other shoots). I prefer the result of using the viewfinder.
What didn't work, how could this be improved? What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
I would have loved to do a bigger shoot with these ideas and concepts. There are so many more things I could have played with to create some interesting imagery. If I wasn't short on time, I would defiantly expand on this idea further. As this was my last shoot, I felt quite restricted and wish I had done a shoot like this earlier.
