I am planning on doing an out-door shoot on the farm. I will try to capture my model in this environment in an interesting way and also try to photograph still life and architecture. I will be shooting at the end of the day so the natural lighting will be quite dark. For this shoot I mostly just want to experiment shooting in this environment and try and come up with a clear idea through it.07/04/22

I am photographing in the style of André Kertész. I will use props in my shoot such as flowers, as they are something I used in my first shoot, and this worked well, and André also uses props in his photographs. Im going to shoot in a studio this time as I want to see how this turns out. I am also doing this as in my first shoot I didn't work in a studio, I worked in an outside environment. I want to try and get a range of angles and strong composition in my photographs to make them more interesting.
Artist model inspiration
I converted my images to black and white as André's photographs are in black and white too. I used still life objects in my shoot, with strong compositions. My objects were arranged to lead the eye to a certain part of the photograph- eg the bunch of flowers, as André does in his shoots.
Evaluation
What worked? In this shoot I was able to put André Kertész's features and style into my shoot. I used still life, this worked well in my shoot and connected to my previous shoot by using some of the same props.
What didn't, how could this be improved? My use of light wasnt as strong as André Kertész uses in his photos. I could of chnaged it by using one strong directional source of light to create dramatic shadows in my shoot.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? I will probably continue to use some of the same props in my next shoots, as-well as the dark backdrops.

I am photographing in the style of Peter Lindbergh. Peter Lindberghs style of photography is formal. I will use different kinds of lighting in my shoot, and try use some kind of natural lighting as this is what Peter Lindbergh has in some of his photographs. Peter Lindbergh's photos have strong directions of light, with dark/dramatic shadows, I will try to incorporate this into my shoot. Peter Lindbergh's photographs capture peoples faces, that shows emotion/tells a story-something I will try to show in my photographs. Im going to shoot indoors, in the corner of a room, with a plain wall. The background Peter uses in his photograph's are mostly plain/simple and dark. My model will be wearing plain and simple clothing so that the emotion in her face cant be overridden by distractions such as clothing. I want to try and get a range of angles and strong composition in my photographs to make them more interesting.
Artist model inspiration
In my shoot, I focused on capturing emotion through portraiture like Peter Lindbergh. By using lighting, I could create shadows, and bright focal points on my models face like Lindbergh does in his work. The lighting was arranged to lead the eye to a certain part of the photograph- such my models eyes, or the side of her face ect.
Evaluation
What worked? In this shoot I was able to put Peter Lindbergh's features and style into my shoot. I used LED lighting, this worked well in my shoot and created depth and shadows into my images.
What didn't, how could this be improved? My use of light wasn't as strong as André Kertész uses in his photos. I could of changed it by using one strong directional source of light to create dramatic shadows in my shoot. Use natural lighting. Overall I think this shoot was quite weak, and repetitive. This shoot didn't really link to my past shoot and didn't have a set idea.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? I will probably continue to use some of the same props in my next shoots, as-well as the dark backdrops.

I am photographing in the style of Nick Knight. Nick Knights style of photography consists of formal portraiture. I will use try to use some of the features he uses in his shoots. Some of these features are using strong lighting to create depth and shadows among the photographs. Knight also uses a lot of colour in some of his shoots. I am planning on incorporating this into my shoot, maybe experimenting with eye shadow or paint. Nick Knights photographs capture peoples faces, as-well as some fascinating and captivating outfits/costumes which I may incorporate into my shoot also. Im planning on doing my shoot indoors, or in the school studio, as Knights backgrounds are very plain, simple, and in a studio. I want to try and get a range of angles and strong composition in my photographs to make them more interesting.
Artist model inspiration
In my shoot, I focused on capturing pops of colour through portraiture like Nick Knight. By using LED coloured lighting, I was able to create shadows, and bright focal points on my models face. It also helped me to capture the glow in the dark paint on my models face in a captivating way. Nick Knights photographs display very strong dark and light spots, which I incorporated into my photographs. Knight also uses very dramatic makeup/eyeshadow oh his models, which I tried to have a go at.
Evaluation
What worked? In this shoot I was able to put Nick Knights features and style into my shoot. I used LED lighting, dramatic makeup and simple backgrounds in my shoot. This worked well and created depth and shadows to my images.
What didn't, how could this be improved? I didn't end up using dramatic outfits/costumes like Knight uses. This would have added more variety, depth and interest into my shoot. I feel I could improve by taking more photographs of things other than my models face as some of my images are quite repetitive
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? I will continue to use some of the same props in my next shoots, I feel the bold makeup worked well too, and I will try to use a different environment in my next shoot as all have been indoors.

Evaluation of work completed so far -self reflection
Ideas
Do you have a clear theme and direction? What needs to be improved / refined? I feel as though my theme of conceptual portraiture is clear. I do think I could extend and add more meaning into some of my photographs so that it links to more of the conceptual part of my theme. I have used a range of props, angles, viewpoints, lighting and editing techniques to make my images more interesting and less repetitive. I could also improve my images by experimenting more with costumes/outfits as this was also a big feature in some of my artist models photos which I did not put into practice. In future shoots I will experiment more with my backgrounds and environments as most of my shoots so far have been indoors which makes my images look slightly repetitive. I need to also improve my images by photographing more things other than faces. This will create more depth and interest into my images.
Does your work show a range of different ideas to explore? If not, what can you do from here? From my past four shoots I have shown a range of different ideas and each shoot has helped me to explore ideas into my next one I do. I have shown different ideas into my work through the way I capture my photos and also how I edit them. By using photoshop I am able to overlap 2 images which helps portray a meaning into my image as. I also show a range of ideas by using other techniques in photoshop and by adjusting lighting and colours in my images. I feel as though I could extend and explore more ideas through my theme. I can do this by researching and looking into more artist models that relate to my theme.
Photographic Conventions
What conventions can you see that have been explored in your images? I have experimented with the lighting and composition in my shoots. These conventions create interest and depth into my images. I have used a range of light sources such as natural and LED lighting. I have also played around with the framing and composition of my images, I did this by shooting from different angles, zooming in/out, extreme close up(macro), mid shot, full shot and photographing from different perspectives eg. High angle, low angle/worms eye angle, eye-level angle. I have leading lines in my images/rule of three in a few of my images. By using these conventions it helps lead someones eye to a certain part of my photo that I wont them to look at first.
What conventions need improvement or to be explored more? I think I could photograph more using the rule of three. I can explore more with different backgrounds and environments as-well as the use of other props.
Ideas
Can you see how your ideas are developing? Have you got a range of ideas? I don't really have an idea that is consistent through my shoots. I think I have too many random shoots going on and nothing links.
What are your most innovative and creative aspects of your photographs? I think I was most creative in my first shoot as I was photographing in a range of environments using different depth of fields and viewpoints.
What are some new ideas, potential options you could use? To maybe photograph in a studio
Layout
Does your layout work together as a sequence? From the shoots iv'e done so far I feel like they don't really work together and theres not much of a sequence.
Is there a systematic flow? How does this need to be improved? A the moment there isn't a systematic flow through my shoots. This is because each shoot has been totally random and I haven't really followed an idea. I think this is also because I have rushed through some of my shoots, so could improve this by working on my time management so that I can organise a shoot and get the most out of it.
