Shoot 1 - 39 images
Ideas:
Since this was my first shoot and I wasn't too sure what I wanted to be photographing, I thought I would start off with my main idea of colour and think of different objects that were "colourful". The idea of bright coloured fruits and liquids came to my mind so I thought I would experiment basing my image ideas of that thought and see where it would take me.

Evaluation:
What worked? For my first photoshoot I thought it went really well and my idea worked so week and I ended up getting some really strong images. I had really good weather and lighting for this shoot so the photos turned out really great and I was very pleased with the overall outcome of this shoot. The photos were all very colourful whether they had bright colourful liquids in glasses in them, bright fruit, or a cool background. Everything also seemed to work well together and the phots made sense meaning that i thought they weren't too over crowed or boring . There was also a-lot of variation in this shoot and it wasn't to repetitive.
What didn't, how could this be improved? I don't think much needed to be improved but I would like to find a way to get a colourful backdrop and think about what I could use to do this.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? use some different objects and backgrounds

SHOOT 2 8/4/2022 124 images
Ideas:
To photograph in the style of Andre Kertesz and experiment with the use of still life photography. I will use his very own photos as my inspiration and this photoshoot will take place in the studio at school.
Artist model inspiration: Andre Kertesz
I really liked the shadow that the bowl and spoon are making with the life shining on them and I like how the objects he used are different shapes because they make quite cool/different shadows.
I really love the detail that glass objects give when having light shone on them
I really like that he uses a vase to make a shadow and the detail it gives off. I thought it would be quite cool to use this idea and incorporate some other objects aswell as flowers.

Shoot 3 - 59 images
Ideas:
My ideas for this shoot was to experiment with different types of colourful foods. (such as donuts, fruits, lollipops, sprinkles etc.) while also using different fabrics and backgrounds to have a colourful background. I will also be using the light from the to reflect through different glasses.
Artist model inspiration:
My inspiration for this shoot were these images by Adam Laycock and Xavier Barrade. These images all have had the use of bright colours/ backgrounds and the use of colourful and exiting foods. These pictures have inspiration for reflections and shadows, different types of food and how it's presented aswell as using a cool background.

What worked? The things that worked well for my photoshoot were the objects I used. (The donuts, fruits etc.) the colours were all bright and colourful and everything worked well together as the photos weren't too crowded and over whelming. I also really like the backgrounds I used and the use of the colourful fabric and green bushes really made the objects I used pop.
What didn't, how could this be improved? During my shoot both of my cameras batteries died which is very inconvenient for me and since I was out all weekend I ran out of time to do my shoot and only managed to shoot a few good pics before the sun set and it got dark.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? Next time i will also experiment with different objects/colours and make sure I plan my weekend ahead so I don't run out of time.
Shoot 4 31/5/22 - 75 images
Ideas:
My ideas were to use glasses because I really like incorporating the reflections the glasses give off by pairing them with colourful fruits or liquids, Depending on whether or not I am able to buy donuts and colourful foods again I also might be able to take some cool pictures of them like I did in my shoot 3.

What worked? I had really good weather and lighting for this shoot so the photos turned out really great and I was very pleased with the overall outcome of this shoot. The photos were all very colourful whether they had bright colourful liquids in glasses in them, bright fruit, or a cool background (the bright blue pool). Everything also seemed to work well together and the phots made sense meaning that i thought they weren't too over crowed or boring . There was also a-lot of variation in this shoot and it wasn't to repetitive.
What didn't, how could this be improved? Everything went fine but I think I need to think of some new ideas because I don't think my shoots are showing a lot of variation and I need to have some new ideas
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? Next time will also experiment with different objects/colour (maybe not food). I would like to do glow-sticks in the dark or experiment with paint.
A2 - Best images class assessment evaluation of work.
Ideas:
I think that I have a pretty clear idea of what my theme is and the direction that I am heading in to expand my ideas and further improve the quality of my photos. The things that I could improve are that I could use different kinds of colourful objects and not just "foods" This is because my idea is not specifically "colourful foods" and it would be a good idea to expand my idea by using different objets. My work does show a different range of ideas like the use of different colourful sweet foods, fruits and colourful liquids but for my future shoots like i said before I am going to start incorporating different ideas and objects so that my theme remains interesting and doesn't get to boring after a while.
Photographic conventions:
I used a few different photographic conventions throughout my images. for example lighting. I did my photographs during the day when it was really sunny and the light was at it's brightest. I also arranged my objects around the way sun was shining so that I could pick how i wanted the light to reflect off them and create shadows. Doing this meant my images came out to the full potential the colourful items had to offer with the sun shining of them and showing the full colour and allowed them to have cool shadows. My pictures used different camera angles throughout my pictures whether it is from a high angle, a worms eye/low angle or A eye - level angle. Another thing i used was camera shots. I made sure that there was a variation in the way i took my photos and had a variety of them. For example close up shots, extreme closes ups, mid shots etc. I also tried to do different compositions for my pictures and had a mixture of different centred, symmetrical, balanced, asymmetrical compositions aswell as clearly thinking about where I would place the objects so they made sense and the pictures flowed. From the list of photographic conventions I got I would like to explore leading lines and different range of depth of field.
Artist models:
From most of my shoots you can tell where I got my inspiration for my picture from because they relate clearly to the photographs from my artist models but from a few shoots especially shoot 4 you can see that I am lacking the ideas from what were supposed to be my inspiration and can kind of tell that I had winged the shoot. Some of the more obvious shoots are my shoot 3 which was mainly done around the idea of the donut photograph I was inspired by. Most of my images for shoot 3 involved the donut being involved in the pictures so that to me was obvious. Shoot 2 was also obvious as we used Andre Kertesz's still life imagery to inspire us to do our own still life photoshoot. I would further like to use more of Jimmy marbles colourful photography to expand my idea of colour and get some picture that aren't just food based.
Ideas:
From my shoots I think I can see my ideas developing as each shoot is slightly different and my end photos have come out differently for each of the shoots I have done. To develop my idea further I would like to experiment with something other than food as my theme is not specifically colourful food photography and is just the idea of colour in general. To explore this idea further I want to try do something with paint, glow-sticks and flowers etc which will add some difference into my ideas as well as expanding my theme. So far my most creative photo that I have liked the best are the colourful reflection photos. I really like the photos I did where I had different coloured liquids in glass cups and have had them facing the sun so the reflection comes through in bright colours and shines through onto a white surface. I also added some fruits or something to add some more detail to these pictures too which I thought looked really cool.
Layout:
I think the layout of my work does flow well work and in a sequence. Every thing on my website so far has been done in order and is easy to find anything and understand it. All of the large images that have been shown on my website and not including the contact sheet have been some of my favourite and best images and I do feel like I have used a hierarchy of size and range of size well. All of my images that I have printed out have first been edited in light room or photoshop etc so they have all printed out looking quite high quality and really nice looking. For my next layout for my indesign photo template I would like to add more photos onto it so I can show a larger range of my ideas and also set it out differently and not the in a square template.
Goals:
For my next assessment I would like to get some better high quality photos done and use my new ideas to extend my theme and continue to improve the idea. For 2.2 and 2.3 I am aiming for at-least a merit but will be happy to get an achieved because I feel i put my best work forward and was very happy with it.
