Hello and welcome to 5th Grade!

My name is Raef Deschane, and I am excited to be your 5th grade English Language Arts teacher in the Turtle House this year!

I grew up in West De Pere and am a proud West De Pere graduate. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. I also completed my student teaching right here at West De Pere Intermediate School, so I am very excited to begin my teaching career in the same district that helped shape me as a student.

One of the things I am looking forward to most this year is getting to know my students and building a classroom where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, taking chances, and growing as learners. We are going to work hard, have some fun, and hopefully develop an appreciation for reading and writing along the way!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, golfing, watching sports, playing video games, and coaching basketball. I am the oldest of five boys, so there is usually something going on when my family gets together!

I am looking forward to a great school year and getting to know all of my students and families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time throughout the year.
