Not everyday is the same, but typically, we follow the routine below...
Complete a math-minded activity or challenge
Take notes related to the lesson of the day
Practice the skill as a class
Practice the skill with a partner or in a small group
Practice independently and determine if we need more help
Work on various stations based on current and past lessons
Regroup, review, and reflect
Homework will directly reflect the lesson taught that day. It should NEVER take more than 30 minutes. If your child is struggling with the assignment, see if you can help (minimally). Sometimes they may have forgotten a step or two and just need to get back on track!
If, however, your child is still unable to complete the work after you've intervened, have them stop working on it. Write a note at the top saying that they would like more help.
The only purpose of homework is to build confidence with the skill. If it is too difficult and they become frustrated, there is no reason to push. I'll happily give them the extra support in class the next day.
These slideshows provide an overview for each topic (as I finish creating them!). From here, you can only view the information, but I will also post these for your child on their Google Classroom account so they can edit slides as needed.
Students will complete exit tickets in class. They will mirror test questions and reflect what was taught in class that day. Students should use completed tickets as an additional study guide as they prepare for assessments. Blank exit tickets are below.
