Policies and Procedures:

Each student is required to take and successfully complete Physical Education and Health each year he/she is enrolled at West Deptford High School to become a candidate for graduation. Classes are 45 minutes long. Students will be expected to promptly log on during their class period for attendance. They will then have 30 minutes to participate in some form of physical activity. After the 30 minutes they have to return to their teacher, and verify their activity. Students will be expected to be prepared for activity. They must be in PE appropriate attire, which must include sneakers.

Attendance and Grading:

Physical Education is a participation-type class, attendance is of paramount importance. Grading is based on preparation (20%), participation (40%) and a variety of assessments (40%). If a student misses a class for any reason he/she should see his/her teacher immediately for information about how to make up that time.

Medical Excuses:

If a student has a medical excuse that prohibits them from participating he/she will see his/her teacher for written work that will satisfy the requirements for Physical Education. No “Medical” grades will be given. A student medically unable to participate must bring a note from his/her physician designating the reason and the current date. A physician’s note from the previous school year is not valid. Students should submit their medical excuses to the school nurse.
