Welcome to 8th grade Literature and Language! My name is Chris Rader, and I live in Waterloo with my husband, Jim, and my 3 children: Kamryn (Class of 2025), Jay (Class of 2027), and Kendyl (Class of 2029). My husband teaches History at Waterloo High School, so as you can see, my entire family is fully invested in the Waterloo School District. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful district not just as a parent but also as a teacher.
I began teaching in the Waterloo School District at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. I graduated from McKendree College in December of 1999 which allowed me to substitute teach for the remainder of that school year. I then worked as a paraprofessional for a year before being hired at Valmeyer School to teach junior high/high school Language Arts. I then spent 21 years teaching primarily 8th grade Literature and Language and also 9th grade English I before moving to the Waterloo School District.
Athletics have been a huge part of my life, previously playing college softball, and now watching my own children participate in many sports. When I am not at school, I can be found cheering on my own children and the Waterloo Bulldogs in cross country, basketball, volleyball, track, baseball, and softball.
