Intro: Welcome to my portfolio! I have chosen three pieces of my work to revise and resubmit as this year comes to a close. The first piece that I chose is the most recent essay we have written in class; my Exit West essay. I selected this essay because I feel like it encapsulates and demonstrates the new skills that I learned about rhetorical devices and the importance of grasping the main message of an authors writing. I also chose to revise my synthesis essay about immigration, and more specifically the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The main reason I chose this essay is because I actually really enjoyed writing it. I find the topic that I chose to be really interesting, and I also really liked the sources that I used. I wanted to chose this essay to ramp it up a little bit more and give the topic the attention it deserves! Lastly, I selected another synthesis essay, but this one was written slightly different. The Meatless Monday prompt was my first in - class synthesis essay that I had to write without knowing the prompt or finding evidence beforehand. I chose this essay because I am honestly really proud of how well I was able to write it in the time and circumstance I was given.
