Where It All Began

At the Wappingers Central School District, 

our mission is to empower all students with the competencies and confidence to challenge themselves, pursue their passions, and realize their potential while growing as responsible members of their community. 

This STEAM Project-Based Learning (PBL) Showcase is a celebration of that mission in action—highlighting student-driven projects that integrate science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics across all grade levels. What began as small but powerful shifts—embedding voice and choice, fostering collaboration, and cultivating a culture of reflection and problem-solving—has evolved into a district-wide transformation in teaching and learning. Grounded in the rigor of the Next Generation Standards, each featured project represents more than an academic task; it reflects a fundamental shift in how students interact with knowledge. Through PBL, students actively apply what they’ve learned, think critically, work collaboratively, and solve real-world problems in authentic contexts. This showcase invites you to witness how learning in Wappingers becomes meaningful, memorable, and deeply connected to both community and purpose.
