About The Teacher

Mrs. Burke loves teaching in the district she attended. Go, Patriots!  She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from SUNY Oneonta and earned her Master's in Education with a certification in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle. The 2024-2025 year marks her 26th year teaching and she is very excited to teach fourth grade again for the 20th year! This year will be full of adventures as the class explores diverse and historical experiences through reading and writing and explores social studies, science, and math concepts to understand real-world problems.  Her favorite subject is history, but she loves to teach all the subjects and watch her students light up enthusiastically while learning. Mrs. Burke, her husband, and her 4 children (David, age 21, Thomas, age 12, James, age 10, and Therese, age 8) live in Pleasant Valley.  She enjoys nature hikes, reading, getting together with friends, and kayaking.  You also will catch her watching a Yankee game or two.  Her favorite food is Spanish/Mexican food. Her favorite snack is guacamole and chips.  Mrs. Burke is allergic to all dairy and gluten/wheat products. Last but not least, she plays the flute and piano and loves to dance.
