The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is responsible for coordinating services in NY with developmental disabilities, including: intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other neurological impairments.
In the community settings, supports and services including Medicaid funded long-term care and residential supports are provided. OPWDD provides NYS-funded family support services, in order to assist families in providing care for their family members who live full-time in their family home, and employment supports, which include ongoing job coaching, job matching, and vocational training.
