My name is Barbara McDermott, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! I was born and raised in Saugerties NY and now reside in Kingston NY. I have a son named Keenan, two cats (Ghost and Shadow), and just got a puppy named Duke last May.   I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and of course, teaching!

This year marks my 27th year in the classroom here in the Wappingers district. I started in kindergarten for a year (when it was half day). I  had to the opportunity to loop my students to second grade one year.  But my home is in first grade for 25 years!! 

 I am looking forward to making it the best one yet! My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every child can thrive academically and socially. I can’t wait to get to know your children and partner with you to make this a successful and joyful school year full of learning, growth, and strong home-school connections.
