2025 marks my 32nd year of teaching English/ELA. I began my career in 1993 teaching 11th and 12th grade English at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, where I stayed for eight years before I came to Wappingers in 2001. I started at John Jay teaching 12th grade English. The following year, I traveled between John Jay and Van Wyck teaching both 10th and 7th grades, and was won over by the enthusiasm of middle school students. I have been teaching 8th grade ELA for 20 years, and 7th grade again for the past 11. In 2022, I renewed my National Board Certification, and continue to take advantage of learning opportunities, particularly in the area of technology integration. I am currently on the Executive Board of NYSEC (New York State English Council), teach courses with the Mid Hudson Teacher Center, and volunteer with the Friends of the Beekman Library.
On a personal note, I have four grown daughters, and we love to travel together, especially to Disney! My most recent trips abroad included Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and Ireland. My dog Zelda recently moved to Maine to be with my youngest daughter, but I get daily updates on her activities.
