In first grade, most work is not given a number grade, but is assessed based on a developmental progression of skills that students are expected to move through in first grade. Report card grades are a snapshot of where the child is with regard to meeting the grade level standards in each subject at the end of each quarter of the school year.
4- Meets the Standards with Distinction
All work is done independently, above and beyond what is expected at this time of the school year. Questions may cover material that has not been explicitly taught, but builds upon concepts that have been covered in class, and takes them to the next level. Please note 4's are an exception not the norm. Please do not worry if you do not see 4's on your child's report card.
3- Meets the Standards

2- Developing Skills to Meet Standards
Work may be done with some support or work may be partially accurate.
1- Does not Meet the Standards
Significant support needed to answer questions correctly. Work is inaccurate, even with support.
