Syllabus /  Do the Math Curriculum

Throughout this year, we will be working in a math program called Do the Math. This intervention program was written by Marilyn Burns, a leading and highly respected math educator. This program focuses on the area of math dealing with numbers and operations which encompasses computation, number sense, and problem solving. The program provides step by step lessons that break material up into manageable parts with proper pacing. Through this, students are able to build thinking and reasoning skills so that they can build more understanding of the operations and how to apply them. This program does this in multiple ways through games, peer interaction, use of manipulatives, use of technology and a great deal of modeling that allows for students to engage with the concepts and build a stronger foundation in math.
