About the Teacher

 Mr. Amodio got his B.A. in Physics and his M.A. in Secondary Education from Adelphi University. He was inducted into both the Physics Honor Society (Sigma Pi Sigma) as well as the Education Honor Society (Kappa Delta Pi) and graduated Cum Laude from the Honors College.  Mr. Amodio has worked as a Mad Scientist for Mad Science of Westchester, as well as a Middle School and High School teacher for several different schools in Westchester and NYC, both public and private, affluent and urban.

In 2015, Mr. Amodio was awarded "CTE Teacher of the Year" by Yonkers Public Schools.

In 2016, Mr. Amodio was a member of "Team Ethics" that took 1st place in the Game Jam held at the "Revolutionary Learning 2016" conference on Games in Education.

In 2023, Mr. Amodio was inducted into the NYS Master Teacher Program for STEM Teachers. He has held several workshops with the program including topics such as Arduino and the Geologic Trail @ Sharpe Reservation.

Also in 2023, Mr. Amodio published a paper in ASEE with professors from the SUNY New Paltz Engineering & Education Departments as well as a JJHS alumnus on the mentorship program that they developed where New Paltz students mentor robotics team members. You can find out more about that paper HERE.

Mr. Amodio enjoys hiking, running, and camping.  He is an active leader in several local Scouting units, including his role as District STEM Coordinator for the Dutchess District of the Greater Hudson Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
