Similarly to many sports, Science Olympiad clubs have teams that are coached by teachers, improved by mentors, and filled with top talent. Students compete in 23 events pertaining to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. In fact, over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from all 50 U.S. states compete each year.
Each season, pairs of students compete in 23 STEM events where they build devices for on-site testing, study for core knowledge challenges, and prepare for rigorous hands-on lab experiments.
We hold weekly Monday meetings in room 273 and attend competitions remotely and in-person.
Our John Jay SciOly team has now won 1st place at the MidHudson Regional Tournament 3 years in a row, and have made it to the state level for more than 10 years!
