Modifications and helpful tools

(ways to help your child access the curriculum)

Kids don't all learn in the same way. Some need modifications put in place to help them learn and understand what they are being taught.

When working with your child at home, make sure they are in an environment with minimal distraction. In class we can use privacy screens and we can get creative with seating arrangements to help with this. A visual schedule may help them understand what is coming first, next and so on. Here is a link to the schedules we use in class. Feel free to use this, or you can create you own.

Movement breaks are really important! Studies show that when students activate their physical bodies they are better equipped for cognitive demands. Here are some visual supports that you can print to help direct the physical movement that is probably necessary to help your child learn.
