Advanced Placement United States History is comparable to a sophisticated college course in United States history. Students who score a well on the Advanced Placement Exam could receive college credits, depending on the school he/she will attend.
Compared with the New York State United States Regents curriculum, the AP United States History curriculum is much more demanding. Students will be asked to read and write a great deal more, use chronological reasoning, make comparisons, contextualize themes in American history and analyze diverse historical interpretations.
The course will move rapidly and cover a great deal material. The APUSH exam is typically scheduled for the first Friday in May. Adhering to a strict timetable is essential to completing the curriculum and preparing for the exam.
Textbook: The American Pageant, Fifteenth Edition, David M. Kennedy, and Lizabeth Cohen which will be provided by the district.
