The Wakefield Middle School AIG program serves roughly 300 students identified as  Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted as well as students in our Talent Development Program. Each year we seek to identify even more exceptional students through nominations and testing. At WMS, we recognize that giftedness is a unique trait.  We seek ways to challenge and celebrate each student as an individual.  💡

          FAQ: AIG in middle school

❓My child was in AIG in elementary school. Are they automatically in AIG at WMS?

• • Yes, all students identified in elementary school remain identified in middle school. 

    • No additional testing or paperwork is needed. 

❓When is the AIG class?

• • In middle school, there is no AIG class. Students are served through their ELA and/or Math class (depending on their area of identification).

  • Wolftime Enrichment also serves as an opportunity for co-curricular enrichment

❓Are AIG students re-assessed/evaluated in middle school?

• • Students who enter middle school with AIG identification will not take any additional identification tests. 

  • Students who are in Talent Development will be reviewed twice a year to determine AIG eligibility

❓Will AIG students receive different assignments daily/weekly?

• • Assignments are differentiated for AIG students as needed in Math and Language Arts

  • Students identified in AIG Language Arts will be served 1 week per quarter for extra enrichment activites/ projects.
