One of our top priorities as a Student Support Services team is our students' mental well-being and continuous social and emotional learning. Our students face so many challenges in and outside of school, and we are here to provide support and resources to help them cope with life stressors and manage conflict and create positive relationships. If you have concerns regarding your student's mental health and would like assistance locating a provider outside of school, please view the options below. In the event of a mental health emergency/crisis, there are several resources within Wake County available 24/7 (see document below).
How to find a therapist/mental health provider:
WLMS offers a School-Based mental health program, where we have a couple of therapists on campus weekly who meet with students during the school day if getting to a provider outside of school hours is a challenge. Reach out to a counselor or social worker for more information (space is limited and certain insurances accepted).
Have Medicaid? Ask a counselor/social worker for an Alliance referral or call Alliance Health directly at 919-510-9132.
Private insurance? Reach out to your child's Primary Care Provider and/or search for a provider via psychologytoday.com .
No insurance? Contact our social worker for potential options.
