Beginning Dance teaches students the fundamentals of dance history, elements, choreographic principals, and analysis. Students will learn movement skills in ballet, jazz, modern, and several others. Students will have several opportunities for creative and collaborative small group class performance assessments as well as large group performances on stage for friends and family. This class is open to any level of dance experience, and just requires the willingness to learn and have fun!
Intermediate Dance builds on the curriculum from beginning dance. This includes learning new movement skills, choreographic principals, and prompts for group collaboration. Students in this class will also perform both small group dances in classes and large group dances for friends and family on stage. This class is open to any student who has already taken beginning dance.
Advanced Dance or Dance Company is a year long honors class that continues to build on the foundations of movement skills and choreographic principles taught in both beginning and intermediate dance. Students will create both large group pieces as well as solos in class, and will perform in both end of semester concerts. This class is a combined level class meaning some students will be considered advanced and some will be considered accomplished. Students who are advanced will have a larger work load on assignments. This class is open to any student who has already taken both beginning and intermediate dance. Students who audition who have not taken a dance program class may be considered for Advanced Dance.
