Students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K‐7 can take advanced academic content in Mathematics or English Language Arts through Single Subject Acceleration (SSA). This ensures opportunities for appropriate levels of academic challenge. Only students who are currently enrolled and attending a WCPSS school during the open nomination and testing window are eligible to be considered for SSA. Testing takes place in the second semester of the school year.
SSA TESTING 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher grade level in either math or ELA to provide appropriately challenging learning opportunities. Any student in grades K-7 can have their parent request SSA testing in math or reading. If you decide to pursue testing for your child, you may register using the WCPSS SSA test request form, which is available from March 10-28. The test request window will open at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time on the first day of the test request window and close at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on the last day of the request window. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Molloy, AIG Teacher and SSA Liaison at jmolloy@wcpss.net
