Course Description: Sculpture students will learn the fundamentals of 3D art, including relief work and sculpture in the round. Students will expand on using many different 3D media and techniques and will apply complex concepts and personal expression. Each project is identified with a problem. Students must find a solution through multiple compositional sketches and planning of ideas. Upon completion of their sketches, they will move onto their final piece of work. At the end of each project, a class critique will be used to evaluate and discuss each artist’s work. Art History, technology and other disciplines will be incorporated as they apply to each project. Sketchbooks are an integral part of this class. They will be used for notes, sketches, and homework.

Canvas: Canvas will have the due dates, directions, assignments, class announcements, etc. posted and available daily. There is a parent view of Canvas that parents can sign up for, here’s how.
Communication
Remind: Remind is a useful tool that allows teachers to communicate with students through a text message reminder. The Remind code for each class is at the top of this page. I use Remind to communicate directly with the class as a whole and to students individually. Students can also reach me directly using Remind. Remind is for student communication.
Talking Points: I will be sending weekly class updates and announcements through Talking Points, as well as individual communications. Talking Points had made communicating home so much easier and I encourage every parent to use it. It's a great 2-way line of communication between teacher and home. Talking Points is for parent/student guardian communication.

For absences exceeding 3 days, the student will have a minimum of 2 days for each absence to complete assignments. Students will receive full credit for all make-up work following an excused or unexcused absence as long as the work is completed within the time limit according to teacher expectations and for unexcused absences as long as remediation has been attended to complete the assignment. Special consideration should be given in the case of extended absences due to injury or chronic illness.

WCPSS Honor Code Policy
Honor Code Policy (4310) states: “Academic honesty is essential to excellence in education and is directly related to the Board's educational objectives for students to promote integrity and self-discipline in students. As all schoolwork is a measure of student performance, academic honesty facilitates an accurate measurement of student learning.
Each student, parent, family and staff member has a responsibility to promote a culture that respects and fosters integrity and honesty. Academic integrity and honesty requires that all stakeholders share responsibility in the fulfillment of this policy.
In fulfilling these responsibilities:
students will collaborate with their peers to foster a culture of academic integrity; refrain from participating, either directly or indirectly, in any form of cheating or plagiarism; and adhere to the honor code;
parents and family will actively support the honor code by encouraging their child(ren) to foster and uphold a culture of academic integrity;
staff will establish and annually teach expectations regarding academic integrity and honesty; and promote the honor code.
