All about Mrs. Kohel

Hey there fifth grade families!! I am so excited to be your teacher this year!! Keep reading to learn a little more about your fifth grade teacher!

I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2013 in with a BA in Elementary Education. I also have an additional certification in Reading Education for K-12. This is my 7th year of teaching, and my second here at White Oak! I have previously taught at Salem Elementary, and most recently at Olive Chapel Elementary. During the last six years, I have taught four years of fifth grade, and one year in third.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my friends, family, and husband. My husband and I can frequently be found playing all kinds of board and card games. I also enjoy reading (or listening to) a good book. My idea of perfect day is staying home on a cold day with a blanket, my kindle, and one of my two cats curled up on my lap! The Harry Potter series is my favorite, in fact I started reading the series when I was in the 3rd grade!

I am gluten free (so nothing with flour for me!), and I fancy myself a pretty good cook. My favorite type of food to cook, and eat is Mexican! But I can always be tempted with anything chocolate (even though I probably shouldn't be! ).
