Hi, my name is Sarah Hoyer and I am the ECS 1. This is my 15th year of teaching and my 4th year at Wakefield. I am originally from Newport News,Va and relocated here to Raleigh in 2019. I have 3 children, an 18 year old daughter, an 8 year old son and an 8 month old baby girl. I have my bachelor's degree in Special Education Severe Disabilities K-12 from Winthrop University and my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. In my spare time, I like to spend time with family and friends, read and go to the beach.
Our classroom is grades K- 2 serving students who are currently working on the Extended Content Standard Curriculum. We are a full, language enriched based classroom that utilizes visual supports in order to help promote communication, vocabulary and concept skill understanding. Our class also participates in social activities throughout the school to help build positive peer relationships. We also have 1 full time Instructional Assistant in the classroom, Ms. Amy, who assists with small groups and fun activities with our students.
