Course Syllabus
Class Description: This course introduces students to the use of simple and complex graphic tools used to communicate and understand concepts and ideas in the areas of architecture, manufacturing, engineering, science and mathematics. Topics include problem-solving strategies, classical representation models such as sketching, geometric construction techniques, computer aided design (CAD), orthographic projection and 3D Modeling. The end goal of the course is to become an industry recognized, certified user of AutoCAD.
Topics Covered: Leadership, Sketching, Basic Drafting Skills, Basic Geometric Terms and Construction, Multi-view Drawing, Basic Dimensioning Skills, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (2D & 3D).
Notebook: An electronic portfolio will be utilized and maintained to document growth throughout the semester.
Textbook: A class set of books are available for classroom use. Textbooks MUST remain in the room.
Homework: Assignments are to be completed during class time. Effective and efficient use of class time is imperative to being successful.Any work that does not get completed will become homework.
Grading Policy: (Subject to Change) Class Work: 30% Quizzes: 25% Tests: 30% Homework: 15%
Grading Scale: A = 90-100%, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = 60-69%, F = < 59%
Final Course Grade: Q1 = 40%, Q2 = 40%, E1 = 20%

Equipment Policy:
Students are asked while using any CTE equipment while in the classroom care and respect. In the event that a piece of equipment/technology is damaged due to a student being harmful or careless, that student could be responsible for the financial burden of it's repair or replacement
Late work Policy: Late work due to an excused absence will follow the WCPSS make up work policy: Assignments assigned prior to an absence will be due upon return; this includes tests rescheduled for the day of the return. If the make-up work has not been assigned in advance, for absences of 1 to 3 days, the student will have a minimum of 1 day for each absence to complete missed assignments. For absences exceeding 3 days, the student will have a minimum of 2 days for each absence to complete assignments. Students will receive full credit for all make-up work following an excused absence as long as the work is completed within the time limit according to teacher expectations. Special considerations should be given in the case of extended absences due to injury or chronic illness.
Academic Courses: All students receiving academic credit for a course have the opportunity to recover grades through completing alternative assignments to demonstrate mastery, turning in missing work, and/or completing retest. Students will earn a minimum of 70% of the grade they would have received if turned in on time. Work that is submitted on time and meets the minimal completion requirements will revive a sore no less than 50%. Teacher do not have to accept last work after one week prior to the beginning of the exam period for the grading term. (Midterms-1st and 3rd Quarter / Finals - 2nd and 4th Quarter).
Electronic Device Policy: All personal electronic devices are prohibited. Includes but is not limited to cellphones, earbuds, headphones, laptops etc.
AutoDesk Certification: (AutoCAD) Three different levels of certification are available to all students. The entry level certification exam can be used in lieu of the State Exam if it is passed on the first attempt.
Final Exam: Any student who does not successfully pass the certification credential exam will be required to take a teacher made final exam.
