Why do homework?

Homework is an essential aid in helping students make the most of their school experiences. Homework is a valuable tool for reinforcing what has been learned in class. It also prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits which are essential as they transition to middle school.

What are the expectations for homework?  ANY unfinished classwork becomes homework.

Students will ALWAYS have time in class to finish classwork during core instruction and independent work time so I can be there to support them.  If they need to finish at home, please help your child set a routine for homework in a quiet area where they can work independently with minimal distractions.  Students are expected to do their best on homework (showing their work, done neatly and turned in on time).   Students will receive feedback on their homework assignments, which will help them improve in areas where they are struggling.  There will be a consequence of losing Lunch Privilege Recess for students who fail to turn homework in on time.
